vsw2016 On September 29th, join the YVR FinTech community for a combination workshop and networking event as a part of Vancouver Startup Week. This is the perfect opportunity to learn from industry experts and mingle with tech startups, anchors, and financial institutions. Hosted by Central 1 Credit Union, this is the second FinTech Day offered as part of the newly launched BC Tech FinTech Program.
Our day kicks off with a highly interactive workshop on the Regulatory and Financial basics for startups. Chris Gallway and Jonathan Kutner from Central 1 will lead you through a quick overview of some of the regularity and compliance hurdles you need to watch out for as well describe how different regulatory bodies interact. This will be a workshop with 20-30 minutes of prepared content and the remainder of the time reserved for discussion and questions. Interaction in this workshop is strongly encouraged.
Tickets for the workshop also provide access to the FinTech Community Event, which includes:
- Canadian Financial System 101 Keynote delivered by Central 1 Credit Union
- Networking & mingling with tech startups, anchors, and financial institutions
- Demos from local FinTech companies including Progressa, Hyperwallet, Beanworks and FrontFundr
- In the spirit of Vancouver Startup Week we will close with a keynote address by one of YVR’s most successful FinTech entrepreneurs Lisa Shields of Hyperwallet/FI.SPAN
